El Barrio de Jucanyá, es una aldea perteneciente al municipio de Panajachel, del Departamento de Sololá, Guatemala, con total de 400 familias habitantes, netamente Indígenas del área Kaqchikel, dedicados en su mayoría, al cultivo de cebolla, maíz, papa y zanahoria, así como a la pesca y a la extracción de materiales en las orillas de río San Francisco que lo limita del municipio de Panajachel, tales como arena, piedra y piedrín utilizado para la construcción.  La Escuela Oficial Mixta Jucanyá, que sirve 267 niños locales, ha recientemente unido esfuerzos con el proyecto del Telecentro en su vecindad, La Escuela de los Artes Jucanya, por implementar proyectos de artes, música, teatro, computación, multi-medios y Internet.

THE JUCANYA OFFICIAL RURAL MIXED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The 'barrio', or neighborhood of Jucanya is part of the municipality of Panajachel, in the Dept. of Solola, Guatemala, housing a total of 400 families, mostly Indigenous people of the Kaqchikel language group.  The majority of the population earns its living by cultivating onions, corn, potatoes and carrots, or from fishing, or from the mining of building materials such as sand and stone from the banks of the San Francisco River, the removal of which is limited by the municipality.  The Jucanya Mixed Rural Elementary School, serving 267 local children, has recently united forces with the Telecenter project in their neighborhood, the Jucanya School for the Arts, to implement projects for the arts, music, theatre, computers, multi-media and the Internet.
